Theatre in Los Angeles has been going through a lot lately, what with the Equity 99 seat plan being yanked, actors, directors and producers alike are up in arms about the proposed changes. Now more than ever it is important to go support local theatre productions, and we at the Frog would like to direct you toward the good ones!

Black comedy cult classic The House of Yes is definitely one worth seeing, AND it stars phenomenal actress and dear Friend of the Frog, Kate Maher! You may remember Kate for her role in The Bulbar Method as Evie St. Sinclair, who also appears in the upcoming Chestnut Casting! Kate is a BFA graduate from USC’s School of Dramatic Arts and has performed in many projects around Los Angeles since graduating.

Kate Maher House of Yes

Kate Maher stars as Jackie O in The House of Yes, opening May 9th at the Zephyr Theatre.

The House of Yes, by Wendy MacLeod, tells the story of Mrs. Pascal (Eileen T’Kaye), her daughter Jackie-O (Kate Maher) and younger son Anthony (Nicholas McDonald) as they anxiously await the arrival of Jackie’s twin brother for Thanksgiving. But when Marty (Colin McGurk) brings along his new fiancée (Jeanne Syquia), secrets unravel and the family’s elegant veneer begins to crack. The House of Yes was made into an indie film in 1997 and Parker Posey won Special Jury Recognition at Sundance for her leading role as Jackie-O. We at the Frog can’t think of anyone better to fill those shoes than Kate Maher!

This 25th anniversary revival of The House of Yes is directed by Zephyr Theatre’s artistic director, Lee Sankowich, and goes into previews on May 7th and 8th with it’s official opening Saturday, May 9th. The show runs for six weeks, through Sunday, June 14th, with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8pm, and Sunday matinees at 2pm. Tickets are $15 for previews and $25 for performances. Buy you tickets here!

Keep supporting the arts, dear Froggies!
