Tuesday night is not a night for going out, doing things or being a productive member of society. Tuesday night, like its friend-with-benefits, Wednesday (aka Hump Day), is a night for taking it easy. Tuesday night is prime spread-out-on-the-couch, turn-on-the-TV and conserve-your-precious-life-force time, especially if you’ve got young children to prevent the self destruction of entertain. So this particular Tuesday night, we encourage you to meet a guy who feels the same way, in the series premiere of ABC’s new comedy Uncle Buck.

A modern revamp of the 1989 John Hughes movie of the same name, Uncle Buck is about a slovenly but lovable (slovable? #wordmerger) ne’er-do-well trying to “grow up” his game by taking a babysitting gig, looking after the three kids of his more responsible brother and hard-to-impress sister-in-law. This TV version stars Mike Epps (The Hangover, Survivor’s Remorse) in the title role, Nia Long (Keanu, Big Momma’s House) and — well, hello there! — Friend of the Frog James Lesure as the Russell family patriarch.

If this guy looks familiar, it’s probably because we’ve written about him before, when he first snagged this part. JK, it’s probably not because of that at all. It’s probably ACTUALLY because you’ve seen Lesure in Las Vegas, Men at Work, The Ring 2 and countless other movies and TV shows, including a few projects from our own head honchos at Drama 3/4. Here’s hoping Uncle Buck keeps James (or “Jazz” as we like to call him) occupied for a long time to come.

Uncle Buck premieres tonight (Tuesday, June 14) at 9/8C on ABC. Set your DVRs… or just watch it when it’s on. We know you’ll be home. C’mon, it’s Tuesday.

Stay froggy, boob tubers!
