This Sunday at Room 5 in Los Angeles, David Fickas has got a brand new Mix Tape ready for your earholes! In case you don’t know what the hell that means, let us explain.

A few years back David was talking with Danielle Woodrow about places to play music in Hollywood, and she mentioned how annoying it can be to book a gig. Given David’s history in the Los Angeles music scene, he promptly replied “I can book you a show!” After all, he’d been playing Hollywood clubs since before he could drive. Check out this clip of his band Komic Strip at the Whisky a Go-Go featuring Chris Hardwick!

Inspired to find a fun place to play some music, David went off to find a venue. He landed at Room 5 on La Brea, and not just because he can stumble home after publicly drinking a bottle of wine. Over the last couple of years “I Made You A Mix Tape” has featured many performers and has become a warm and cozy environment for them to show off their goods. The stage has been rocked by Kyle Gass, the lead singer of The Orchestra, Parthenon Huxley, as well as the debut of child phenom Everly Upright:

You just never know what is going to come out of this show.

This week’s lineup will feature Mix Tape regulars Molly Bryant, Scott Fickas, John Bobek and Lia Richardson, as well as a few new acts including Zeus’ Hammer and Campfire Cassettes. Also joining the show will be the brotherly skills of Adam and Evan Beamer as well as a few songs from sound engineer Ben Kernion. Bringing some comedy into the mix will be Kirk Zipfel and Lindsay Weglarz. It’s going to be a glorious night of wine, pizza, live music and even more wine. Can’t beat that for $5. Doors open at 7pm.

Head on over to the Frog’s YouTube channel to check out some videos from Mix Tapes past, including Evalyn and Fickas mixing up some Pixies and Jay Z and The Beamers brothers with Will Todisco killing the Winter Kills tune “Whisper Darling Blue.” And of course Lia Richardson reminding us all to not be a dick:
