First of all: Yes, Rose McGowan.

Rose McGowan

Earlier this year, Rose McGowan made the news for chastising the entertainment industry’s treatment of women and we at the Frog applaud her for taking an unpleasant subject and kicking it firmly in its objectifying nut sack. Broadly did a great interview with McGowan a few months back where she speaks about her past as an actor and how her childhood growing up in a cult left her with skills she uses in recent foray into directing.

*If you’re at work, headphones may be advised (lotta fucks thrown around).*

Although McGowan says she is much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, her performing days certainly aren’t over. This past week she debuted her first music video, entitled “RM486.” In an interview with Billboard, Rose McGowan said “I’ve lived in classic film world in my head for a long time and, for me, I just wanted something really galactic and natural. That’s kind of what I relate to the most.” RM486 combines her initials with the name of a controversial abortion drug and plays into the sterile, alien feeling of her video by branding her with a code.

“All five characters in the video are versions of me. All are pieces that make up my whole – an artist, a public figure, and most importantly, as a person. I’m pushing back at the idea of what I am supposed to be, I want to expose people to art in a real way, and I want to change the idea of what beauty is. There is true power in art and true power in we who believe in it.”

Rose McGowan’s video is strange and peculiar and totally it’s own thing. Which is exactly what she wants.  And frankly, we kind of can’t stop watching it.

*Fair warning: the following video is Not Safe For Work, unless you work in a nipple-friendly office. (We certainly do.)*
