When a trailer makes you stop everything you’re doing… they’re doing it right. Case in point, the new trailer that dropped for the N.W.A movie adaptation of STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. Described here:

Straight Outta Compton is an upcoming biographical drama film directed by F. Gary Gray. The film revolves around the rise and fall of the Compton, California rap group N.W.A, whose members include Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella. The film is set for theatrical release on August 14, 2015

The rise of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube is ripe for a film adaptation. With a somber look at Ice Cube and Dr. Dre revisiting their roots at the beginning of the trailer, Dre’s words: “It’s a good time for us to tell our story” certainly rings true in this first look. What follows is an enticing peek at the lives of the founders of one of the most controversial rap groups ever to take up a mic.

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A, Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

We here at I See the Frog loved the look, feel and especially the music of this bio-pic. And if you happen pause the trailer at the 2:37 mark, you’ll see friend of the frog Matt Corboy make an appearance. Matt and Kirk Zipfel were featured right here with their hilarious short How To Build a Sex Dungeon, which has since become a favorite post here on the frog.

We hope you enjoy the trailer, froggies!
